If It Poops We Can Kill It

Poster No. 61, issued by the Office of Civic Digestion for the Civil Digestion Defense drive, on the doctrine that any organism which voids can be metered onto the grid and worn down.

A civil-defense poster of a resolute municipal defense worker in coveralls, helmet and respirator standing firm with a collection hose as a hulking creature advances through smoke and deposits waste on the pavement, a municipal digester rig waiting at the right, captioned IF IT POOPS WE CAN KILL IT.

Poster No. 61. Issued by the Office of Civic Digestion, circa 1954, for the Civil Digestion Defense drive and posted at ward shelters, pumping stations, and school gymnasia, restating the standing doctrine that any advancing organism which voids can be brought onto the grid and exhausted by sustained collection. The accompanying drill assumed the subject would remain within reach of the collection hose; the field annex did not. The plate is held in the Bureau of Renewable Discourse archive.
