Don't Waste Waste

Poster No. 77. Issued by the Office of Civic Digestion, circa 1945, for the household salvage drive and posted in kitchens, corner shops, and tenement stairwells, where residents were urged to route every contribution to the grid rather than surrender it, unmetered, to the sewer. Returns were recorded by the pail at neighborhood collection points; households that consistently under-delivered received a second, larger pail.
