Engineering Sometimes Is Squishy

Poster No. 129, issued by the Office of Civic Digestion for the works-morale series, marking the aeroelastic testing program at the municipal wind-tunnel laboratory.

A works-morale poster showing a cutaway municipal wind tunnel with a single brown coiled stool specimen mounted on a sting, smoke streamlines curling around it, two engineers reading dials at a console, captioned ENGINEERING SOMETIMES IS SQUISHY.

Poster No. 129. Issued by the Office of Civic Digestion, circa 1951, for the works-morale series and posted in the wind-tunnel laboratory, the drawing office, and the fitters' hall, marking the program that measured the drag and settling of non-rigid specimens under sustained airflow. The soft body's terminal shape was recorded at each test velocity; the report offered the figures without commentary. The plate is held in the Bureau of Renewable Discourse archive.
